Slate Roof Calculator
Be very careful if attempting to calculate the amount of slate you require for your roof, square metreage, slate size, and headlap or gauge are all factors that can affect the amount of slate needed for a roof. I would advise asking your roofing supplier or slate merchant, normally if you give them the amount of surface area in square metres, your slate size and overlap, they will do all the maths for you, including breakage allowance.**
This calculator calculates the required quantity of slates, holing and battens for your roofing requirements.
This calculator will estimate the following -
1. number of slates required per square metre
2. tile batten gauge for slate
3. total linear run of tile batten in metres
4. holing gauge for holing slates
Enter the length & width and either the height of the gable or the fall to calculate the areas for tiles, slates, felt etc.
This will provide an area calculation for clay or concrete roof tile, natural or composite slate, underfelt or breathable felt and ridge length.
Gable & Hip Roofs will have the same area provided that the pitch remains the same.
Roof A dimensions only will give you the area of a straight gable end or hipped roof.
Roof A & Roof B dimensions will provide the total exposed roof areas (the hidden area is subtracted from the total).
